The Syrian regime used sarin gas on its own people, John Kerry confirmed today, saying that blood and hair samples from first responders in Damascus had tested positive for the chemical agent and that the evidence had come to the United States independently, and not via the UN. "Bashar al-Assad now joins the list of Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein who have used these weapons in time of war," said Kerry.
In making the case for action, the secretary of State said "the case is building," and that the White House doesn't "contemplate that Congress is going to vote no. We believe this case is powerful and continues to grow by the day." The comments come as Kerry hits all five Sunday talk shows today, Politico notes. (More John Kerry stories.)
