San Francisco cops have spent the past four days hunting for a homeless man ... so they could thank him for saving for saving an officer from an attack. On Monday, a lone female cop was responding to a woman seen jumping up and down on cars, say authorities. The woman then turned on the officer. And that's when Ryan Raso, 35, stepped in, reports KGO-TV. "The person had the officer kind of in a choke hold, was kind of, had the officer against the wall, kind of banging, beating her head into the wall," says Raso.
Raso says a crowd of people were watching the action unfold, but no one did anything as the woman reached for the officer's gun. So he grabbed the attacker, and wrestled her to the ground until (more) cops arrived. Raso's headphones were broken in the skirmish, so once they finally located him again, the officers bought him a new pair. They also said they'd help Raso find a shelter if he needed one. Raso says his father was a cop, and thinks he would have been proud. (More San Francisco Police Department stories.)
