Going rogue apparently never gets old: Sarah Palin thinks the Republican Party is straying too far "from the principles that built this party of Lincoln and Reagan," and she's open to ditching the GOP if it keeps up its antics. As the Daily Caller reports, her comments came yesterday in response to a tweeted question about whether she'd be open to starting a "Freedom Party" if Republicans "continue to ignore conservatives?"

"I love the name of that party—the 'Freedom Party,'" Palin responds. And if government doesn't "back off and not infringe upon our rights," then "I think there will be a lot of us who start saying 'GOP, if you abandon us, we have nowhere else to go except to become more independent and not enlisted ... either (as) a Democrat or a Republican.' Remember these are private parties, and you know, no one forces us to be enlisted in either party." (More Sarah Palin stories.)
