Anthony Weiner—possibly inspired by Mark Sanford's shocking comeback—has made it official: He's running for mayor of America's biggest city. The former congressman launched his run for New York City mayor with a video posted on YouTube at midnight, in which he says, "I made some big mistakes and I know I let a lot of people down, but I have also learned some tough lessons," the New York Daily News reports.

"I am running for mayor because I have been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it my entire life, and I hope I get a second chance to work for you," the Democrat says. Weiner, who stepped down amid the sexting scandal that made him a national laughingstock, enters a crowded race. Polls show him behind City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, but he still has $4.3 million in campaign funds from before his political career imploded, USA Today reports.
