Good grief: Charlie Brown is going to rehab. Peter Robbins, the original voice for the character, was sentenced to a year in jail yesterday after he was found guilty of threatening his ex and stalking her plastic surgeon, the AP reports. But he'll be allowed to do his time in rehab rather than prison, the judge said. If he violates the terms of his five-year probation, he could go to jail for four years, the judge noted, warning, "Don't be a blockhead."
Robbins pleaded guilty in the case last month. He now owes his ex-girlfriend's doctor restitution of $15,082 and is required to stay away from his ex for a decade. In rehab, he'll be treated for alcoholism and prescription-drug addiction; it will help him return to the "fun-loving" person he used to be, he told the judge. Either way, it seems, his acting legacy has already been cemented: He "remains the definitive version of Charlie Brown," says a Peanuts expert. (More Charlie Brown stories.)
