The frontman of Christian-leaning heavy metal band As I Lay Dying has been arrested after allegedly trying to hire an undercover cop to kill his estranged wife. Tim Lambesis, 32, was taken into custody without incident near San Diego yesterday, Reuters reports. "The information came to us late last week," a police spokeswoman says. "We acted quickly on it. I believe that we averted a great tragedy." Lambesis, who has recorded six albums with As I Lay Dying and two with side project Austrian Death Machine, adopted three children from Ethiopia with his wife Meggan before the pair separated. She filed for dissolution of marriage last fall. (More As I Lay Dying stories.)
