Ford Focus has defended its title as the best-selling car in the world, reports USA Today. The Toyota Corolla finished second, though Toyota is pushing for a recount by RL Polk, arguing that Corolla derivatives such as the Scion xB should be included and thus give its car the No. 1 ranking. That doesn't seem likely, making the top five sellers in 2012:
- Ford Focus, 1 million
- Toyota Corolla, 873,000
- Ford F-Series trucks, 786,000
- Wuling Zhiguang, 769,000 (this is a Chinese family vehicle made by GM in a joint venture with two automakers in China)
- Toyota Camry, 730,000
