Lance Armstrong wants to make a triumphant return to competitive athletics, but he's running out of sports. The cyclist-turned-triathlete and doper extraordinaire has dropped out of a swimming competition at the University of Texas this weekend, reports the AP. Organizers of the US Masters Swimming event thought it would be OK because the competition didn't fall under the umbrella of the US Anti-Doping Agency, which has banned Armstrong for life from all its events. But after swimming's international governing body raised a stink, Armstrong withdrew.

"He doesn't want to cause any more harm to any more organizations," says the executive director of US Masters Swimming. "His interest was around fitness and training." (More Lance Armstrong stories.)
