Kurt Thomas' two missed free throws in overtime left the door open for the Lakers, and Kobe Bryant came charging through it to score the final six points of the game and put away the Sonics, 123-121. Bryant had a season-high 48 points; LA's next-highest scorer was Ronny Tuiaf with 14, reports the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Nick Collison produced a huge double-double with 24 points and 18 boards for the Sonics, while Seattle's star rookie Kevin Durant struggled with his shot, making just six of 26 and ending up with 19 points. "You always want to try to be the one to stop him, but with a guy like Kobe, it's hard," Durant said. (More NBA stories.)
