Casey Anthony has no job, no car, and is living with friends, according to her testimony at a bankruptcy hearing yesterday. "I don’t pay rent. I don’t pay utilities. I live off the kindness of those I’m living with. I try to contribute when I can," she said in her first public appearance since her 2011 acquittal on charges of murdering daughter Caylee, the AP reports. She was mobbed by reporters and photographers on her arrival at the heavily guarded Tampa courthouse.

Anthony, who frequently consulted with a team of attorneys, told the hearing that she relies on "unsolicited" cash and gift cards to get by and has just $434 to her name. She added that her criminal attorney, Jose Baez, has given her about $3,400 in cash "to help with my living expenses." A lawyer for Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, who is suing Anthony for defamation, asked her whether she had been approached to sell her story and she insisted that she hadn't been. Afterward, he said he doubted she was telling the truth, noting that people filing for bankruptcy don't usually appear in court with a team of five attorneys. "From the smell test, it didn't smell right," he said. (More Casey Anthony stories.)
