The wife of a New York City police officer accused of plotting rape, murder, and cannibalism has offered disturbing testimony in the case, the New York Times reports. She discovered Gilberto Valle's online chats on her computer, she says; he was discussing his plans with like-minded people. "I was going to be tied up by my feet and my throat slit, and they would have fun watching the blood gush out of me because I was young," said Kathleen Mangan-Valle, per the New York Post.

Another person in the chat told Valle not to listen if his wife cried. "Gil just said, ‘It’s OK, we will just gag her," she said. Some of Valle's other intended victims were friends, she said. "He talked about devising an apparatus so the girls could be (roasted) on the spit for 30-minute shifts and be taken down so they would live longer." The defense argues that Valle's chats were "pure fiction" and he didn't actually plan to perform the acts. "It’s pretend. It’s scary make-believe," said lawyer Julia Gatto. (More NYPD stories.)
