Latest in Chandra Levy Case Must Stay Secret: Judge

A new hearing regarding Ingmar Guandique, convicted in the Chandra Levy murder case, is set for today—but the media remains in the dark about new developments. A judge yesterday decided to keep transcripts of the latest proceedings sealed, and he's considering closing today's hearing, too, USA Today reports. The press isn't happy with the moves. "It really seems hard to imagine that, at a minimum, every word that was said (in the previous hearings) has to be blanked out and not made available," says a lawyer for USA Today parent Gannett. The judge says he takes "no satisfaction" in sealing the transcripts, but "I do find that closure is essential." (More Chandra Levy stories.)
