Italian Political Ad Blasts David Axelrod as 'Axl Rose'
The ad that compared an Axel to an Axl.   (Italian Democratic Party)

David Axelrod lost a mustache, but gained a ... headband? President Obama's campaign guru, who shaved his 'stache for charity, is now advising a candidate for the premiership of Italy—where opponents have compared him to Guns 'N' Roses frontman Axl Rose, Politico reports. An ad attacking Axelrod's man, centrist Mario Monti, can translated as: "A guru recommended to Monti to attack his opponents. But the guru, sooner or later, will leave and Italy's problems will remain."

No big deal, except for an accompanying photo of a middle-aged scowler in a rock 'n' roll headband who apparently resembles Rose. True, Rose has been "something of a disappointment" lately, quips New York, but "but are Italians really that upset by his failure to deliver Chinese Democracy?" (Read more David Axelrod stories.)
