Both Hillary Clinton and her would-be successor John Kerry are headed to Capitol Hill: Clinton is testifying today about the Benghazi attack, while Kerry is getting ready for confirmation hearings tomorrow. A look around the landscape:

  • Republicans are hoping Clinton's hearing will finally answer some tough questions about the 9/11 attack on the US consulate in Libya, reports the Daily Beast. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher wants to know why no one has been held responsible for the attack, while other GOP lawmakers will focus on why the incident was falsely linked to protests over an anti-Muslim film.

  • The Beast notes that the hearing may be a sneak peek of the 2016 presidential race, with party favorites Clinton and Marco Rubio squaring off.
  • Kerry's hearing tomorrow is likely a formality, but John McCain is joking about pulling out the big guns, saying yesterday that the GOP "will bring back for the only time waterboarding to get the truth out of him,” reports Politico.
  • Kerry can also expect a few ghosts from his past: Some members of the 2004-era Swift Boat Veterans for Truth may show up to question his military service, reports the Boston Herald. Other lawmakers plan to ask about Kerry's roles in promoting democracy in Cuba and anti-Vietnam protests.
