More of the details are filling in on yesterday's shooting in rural Pennsylvania in which three people were killed along with the gunman. The Altoona Mirror reports that 44-year-old Jeffrey Michael shot his victims in three separate locations in Frankstown before being killed in a shootout with troopers. The newspaper's timeline:

  • He first shot Kimberly Scott, 58, about 9am as she decorated the Juniata Valley Gospel Church for Christmas.
  • He then drove to a home on Juniata Valley Road and killed William Rhodes.
  • Michael then crashed his truck into a vehicle driven by Rhodes' father-in-law, Kenneth Lynn, and shot him.

At that point, state police cars arrived, and Michael fired on them. The details are still a little sketchy, but the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette says Michael rammed his truck into one of the three cruisers, then shot the officer inside. The trooper's bulletproof vest may have saved his life. Michael was killed as the troopers returned fire. Two other officers were wounded, one by glass shrapnel in his eye. Police still haven't released a motive. (More Geeseytown, Pennsylvania stories.)
