The bank robbers who scaled the side of a high-rise Chicago prison are still eluding police, though officials have an informant: The mother of one of the men says they visited her in the suburbs. Kenneth Conley's mom told the pair she couldn't help them. "Then she called the police," her landlord tells ABC News. "I don't know if I'd have been able to do that to my own kid." Sandy Conley also took a gun from her son, according to a neighbor. The FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for information on the men.

Joseph Banks was convicted just last week of multiple robberies; he told the judge, "You'll hear from me." Federal prosecutors in that case are now getting special protection, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. During their escape, Conley and Banks—the latter dubbed the "Second-Hand Bandit" for his thrift-store outfits—replaced the bars on a five-inch window with fake ones and rappelled down from the prison's 17th floor using a rope made of bedsheets. They managed to change clothes and get away in a cab, the AP reports, while the Christian Science Monitor adds that it took nine hours for authorities to notice the escape.
