What happens when you take the Tribune out of the Tribune Co.? We might be about to find out. The company is actively seeking bankers to help sell off its newspapers—potentially including the Chicago Tribune and LA Times—when it emerges from bankruptcy at the end of the month, sources tell Bloomberg. Rupert Murdoch has already signaled interest, and intends to take a close look at the papers once they're available, one source said.

One analyst, however, says the company may try to hang on to the Times and Tribune, selling off some of the six other daily papers it owns instead. "They'll look at their assets and start to monetize some of them," he predicted. (More newspaper industry stories.)
