With a 32-8-3 record, you would think the Detroit Red Wings wouldn't need payback against any team. The Wings were, however, happy to finally show the Chicago Blackhawks who's boss yesterday in a 3-1 win, the Detroit News reports. "We've exorcised the demon," said Detroit coach Mike Babcock.
The Blackhawks were 3-0-1 against the Wings going into the game. Henrik Zetterberg, Dan Cleary and Mikael Samuelsson all scored for the Wings in the first period as they jumped all over a Chicago team that has now lost five straight. Goalie Chris Osgood, subbing for Dominik Hasek, picked up his 355th win, which tied him for 15th on the all-time list. (More Detroit Red Wings stories.)
