Wisconsin Spa Shooter Killed Wife in Attack

When the estranged husband of a Wisconsin woman allegedly shot up her workplace yesterday, his wife was among the three women he killed, NBC News reports. Zina Haughton tried to calm Radcliffe Haughton when he walked in, "tried diffusing the situation, talked to him, said this was a place of peace,” said a customer at the spa. "I know more people would have been killed if it wasn’t for her. She was amazing." And this wasn't Zina's first violent encounter with her husband, according to a restraining order petition filed earlier this month, the Journal Sentinel reports.

"His threats terrorize my every waking moment," she wrote in the petition. "He said he would kill me if I left him or ever contacted the police." Local police responded to a domestic abuse call at their house last year, and saw Radcliffe, a former Marine, point a gun at Zina, but for some reason didn't arrest him, reports the Journal Sentinel. As for the four women wounded in yesterday's attack, one remains in critical condition and three are in satisfactory condition; all are expected to live. (More shooting stories.)
