A soldier is being held in a Texas jail on manslaughter charges after a misguided attempt to cure a fellow soldier of hiccups resulted in his death, reports CBS News. Seems Spc. Patrick Edward Myers and friends were watching football—and unsurprisingly, drinking—on Sunday when the victim developed a case of hiccups. In an attempt to scare him out of them, Myers pointed a gun, which he says he thought was loaded with dummy rounds, at the man's face. The gun was, in fact, loaded, and discharged, killing the man. Bail for Myers is set at $1 million. (More accidental death stories.)
