Taciturn Hollywood tough guy Clint Eastwood saddled up for Mitt Romney tonight. People aren't all "left of Lenin" in Hollywood, said a tousled-haired Clint in a rambling 10-minute speech. "There are a lot of conservative people, moderate people, in Hollywood" who "play it closer to the vest; they don't go around hot-dogging it." He called 23 million unemployed in the country a "national disgrace" that the Obama administration hasn't addressed. "It's time for someone else to solve the problem," he declared to raucous cheers. In a weird kind of schtick he addressed an empty chair set up next to the podium as "President Obama"—and pretended to hear comments from the chair—telling the "president" that no, he wouldn't "shut up." Based on hints from Clint, the chair was also telling Eastwood and Romney to go eff themselves.

"I never thought it was a good idea for attorneys to be president," he told the chair. "Maybe it's time for a businessman. How about that? A stellar businessman. I think it's that time." We "own this country," Eastwood told the enthusiastic crowd. "Politicians are employees of ours. You're the best in the world," regardless of political affiliation, he said to the audience, and "we should never forget that. And when someone doesn't do the job, we gotta let 'em go." Go ahead, he concluded, and the crowd roared in response: "make my day." (More Clint Eastwood stories.)
