Eric Holder Sued Over Fast and Furious

Darrell Issa has taken the battle over Fast and Furious to court, just like he promised. The lawmaker and his House committee today filed suit against Eric Holder to hand over documents on the botched gun operation, ABC News reports. The suit aims to overturn an executive privilege invoked by the White House in June. “The Attorney General’s conception of the reach of ‘executive privilege,’ were it to be accepted, would cripple congressional oversight of Executive branch agencies,” the suit asserted.

Led by Issa, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has investigated the ATF's flawed attempt to track about 2,200 guns over the Mexico border. Many were linked to dozens of crimes in Mexico and Arizona, including the death of a US border agent. Democrats dismiss the lawsuit as a waste of taxpayer dollars, but Issa says the executive privilege is "a calculated political maneuver" intended to hold back the documents until after the November election.
