Mitt Romney and his merry men would take from the middle-class and give to the rich if elected, President Obama claimed at a campaign stop in Connecticut yesterday. Romney's tax proposals are "Robin Hood in reverse," he quipped. "It's Romney Hood." Romney would "ask the middle class to pay more in taxes so he could give another $250,000 to those making more than $3 million a year," Obama said, referring to a recent report from the nonpartisan Tax Policy Institute, which found that Romney's plan would add $2,000 to the tax bills of middle-class earners while saving the richest Americans hundreds of thousands of dollars, CNN reports.

The "Romney Hood" line drew laughs and applause from the crowd at the Connecticut fundraiser, notes the New York Daily News. The Romney campaign disputes the tax analysis, saying that it fails to account for a reduction in the corporate tax rate. "President Obama recently said the biggest regret of his first term was not telling better stories," a Romney spokesman said. "He's trying to make up for it now, but his stories just aren't true. There's only one candidate in this race who's going to raise taxes on the American people—and that's Barack Obama." (More Mitt Romney 2012 stories.)
