Let's hope the terrorists never recruit Liam Corcoran. The 11-year-old managed to board a flight from Manchester, England, to Rome, Italy, yesterday, despite having neither a passport nor a boarding pass, the AP reports. Authorities are investigating the incident, which they dubbed an "extremely serious matter," and at least five Jet2.com employees have been suspended. Corcoran apparently ran away from his mother while at a shopping center near the airport, the Guardian reports.

He slipped in alongside another family and passed through security without anyone noticing that he didn't have the required documents—though officials hasten to point out that he was scanned and posed no danger to the aircraft. Staff at the gate didn't check his ticket either, nor did the flight crew perform an accurate headcount once he was on board. His situation only came to light when he told fellow passengers he was running away from home. The Telegraph has a full list of all the security procedures Corcoran managed to evade.
