Today's Awful Sort-of-Celeb Crime: A former NYPD Blue screenwriter faces up to a year in prison … for allegedly beating his poodle to death. Ted Shuttleworth, 51 (and, the New York Post helpfully informs us, 230 pounds), took his 4.5-pound dog to the vet after allegedly punching her so hard in the face that she suffered a brain injury on May 29. He was apparently angry at the 5-year-old dog at the time, and she died of her injuries; he was arrested over the weekend after the vet voiced suspicions about her death. The Post is most decidedly not on Shuttleworth's side, referring to him as a "washed-up TV screenwriter" and noting that he "now reads scripts for $300 a pop." TMZ has a picture of him.
