A pair of unnamed Americans have been arrested by Japanese officials after one of them was found in a Tokyo hotel room with a dying Irish exchange student, reports MSNBC. Nicola Furlong, 21, of County Wexford, died about an hour later in what officials are calling a suspicious death and possible strangulation. Details are sketchy: Furlong and a 21-year-old female friend apparently met the Americans at a Nicki Minaj concert earlier Thursday evening.

“The death is still very much under investigation. In the meantime, the family has expressed their strong desire for privacy,” the Irish embassy tells the Irish Times. The man found with Furlong is said to be a 19-year-old musician; he and his 23-year-old dancer friend are also suspecting of sexually assaulting Furlong's friend in a taxi en route to the hotel where Furlong was found.
