The bodies of a Tennessee mom and her teenage daughter have been discovered, and police are in a race against time to save two younger sisters snatched by the suspected killer. Jo Ann Bain, 31, and her 14-year-old daughter, Adrienne, were discovered dead behind the Mississippi home of murder suspect Adam Mayes, said local police, who did not reveal how they were killed. Bain's two younger daughters, 12-year-old Alexandria and Kyliyah, 8, are still missing. "Time is clearly of the essence," a former FBI agent told ABC News. "If we have the mother who is dead and one of her daughters, law enforcement has every reason to believe that the other two daughters are definitely in jeopardy."

Police believe that Mayes attempted to disguise the mom and girls by cutting and dying their hair. Mayes is a long-time friend of the father of the family, Gary Bain, and the two men were once married to sisters. Mayes helped the family pack for a move to Arizona late last month, and stayed overnight in their home, a spokeswoman for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation told MSNBC. When Gary Bain awoke the next morning, everyone had vanished, he told police. Mayes was in police custody at one point while the mom and daughters were missing, but he was released. Investigators since gathered new information that triggered a search of Mayes' Gunpoint home, where the bodies were discovered. A $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Mayes' arrest. (More crime stories.)
