Rep. Darrell Issa and his House Oversight Committee should spend less time investigating Attorney General Eric Holder over the Fast and Furious scandal and more time actually worrying about gun control, argues a hero of the Tucson shootings that wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Patricia Maisch, 63, who wrestled a loaded magazine from Jared Lee Loughner as he attempted to reload, wrote a letter to the committee criticizing its plan to charge Holder with contempt, Politico reports.

In the wake of the Tucson tragedy, Holder was the “only one talking about the need for common sense gun laws, including a better background check system and tougher laws to fight gun trafficking,” while everyone else played “political games,” Maisch says in her letter. Now Issa is planning to waste time and tax money on the contempt proceedings, engaging in those same games, while no steps have been taken to improve gun laws. “The failings of our legislators to take even one single step to help prevent more senseless murders, is more than a disappointment to us,” she writes, “it is a slap in our collective faces.” (More Patricia Maisch stories.)
