Under cross-examination today, Andy Pettitte agreed it was "fair" to say that there's a 50-50 chance he misunderstood Roger Clemens regarding his alleged use of human growth hormone. Pettitte had already made moves toward such an acknowledgement yesterday, after first testifying that Clemens "had mentioned to me that he had taken HGH."

Pettitte, who saw Clemens as a mentor and says he still considers him a friend, was visibly uncomfortable in court yesterday, the AP notes; he only looked at his former teammate when asked if Clemens was in the room. At one point yesterday, Clemens' lawyer coaxed Pettitte into praising Clemens for so long that the prosecutor objected. Pettitte also testified about a 2005 incident when he spoke with Clemens about HGH, and Clemens responded, "What are you talking about?" and claimed it was actually his wife who had used it.
