Woe be to the GOP candidate who can't carry his own home state, says Newt Gingrich: "If Santorum loses Pennsylvania, Romney loses Michigan, or I lose Georgia, I think you have a very, very badly weakened candidacy, for any one of the three of us," Gingrich said today. Gingrich of course wasn't so concerned with the Georgia contest on Super Tuesday as the Michigan primary, saying that if Mitt Romney loses, "I don't see what he says the next morning to his donors to stay in the race." Elsewhere on the Sunday dial, as per Politico:

  • Gingrich on the topic du jour, a third-party candidate: "There's no gimme here. Nobody's going to show up and become Superman. I have no problem with anyone who wants to run. Anybody who feels that they want to come out and qualify, come play."
  • John McCain on November: "I think there's reason to be concerned. I've been in very tough campaigns. I don't think I've seen one that was as personal, and characterized by so many attacks, as these. Frankly, one of the reasons is the Super PACs."
  • Rick Santorum on pre-natal testing: "Pre-natal testing . . . does in fact result more often than not in this country in abortion. We know that 90% of Down Syndrome children in America are aborted, so to suggest, where does that come from?"
  • Michele Bachmann on GOP, women, and birth control debate: "There is no anti-woman movement whatsoever. The Republican Party is extremely pro-woman.” What women are really unhappy with, she said, is ObamaCare, calling the president's "signature piece of legislation... wildly unpopular."
