Newt Gingrich went on quite a tear against Mitt Romney this morning on the Early Show, calling him a liar in no uncertain terms. Specifically, Gingrich called Romney out for denying he has anything to do with a Super PAC running negative campaign ads against Gingrich. After all, Romney's "staff created the PAC, his millionaire friends fund the PAC," Gingrich said. He went on to criticize Romney for not supporting Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, voting as a Democrat in 1992, and running to the left of Ted Kennedy.
But that's not all: Gingrich also said Romney is not really a conservative but "a Massachusetts moderate who has tax-paid abortions in 'Romneycare,' puts Planned Parenthood in 'Romneycare,' raises hundreds of millions of dollars of taxes on businesses, appoints liberal judges to appease Democrats," and parades around town as "a poll-driven, consultant-guided version" of himself. Of course, none of that would stop Gingrich from voting for Romney, should Romney become the nominee, because "I think Barack Obama is tearing the country apart," Gingrich explained. Still, Romney "will not survive against the Obama machine," predicted Gingrich. (More Newt Gingrich stories.)
