Rick Perry hosted a town hall at Granite State Manufacturing today. That happens to be in New Hampshire, which happens to be in America, so it follows that attendees should have to prove they're actually American citizens, right? AP reporter Steve Peoples tweeted, "At press check in for Rick Perry NH town hall, we're asked if we're US citizens. Told only citizens allowed. #2012." The AP notes that a Perry staffer and an employee of Granite State Manufacturing, which handles defense contracts for the government, were the ones at the door.
But Perry's campaign said later that that was a mistake, and clarified that because the host is a defense contractor, federal regulations state that immigrants must be accompanied by an escort. No word on whether any immigrants actually attended. (Read more Rick Perry stories.)
