Libya's National Transitional Council says it will try to bring Moammar Gadhafi's killer to justice. A spokesman for the NTC—which until recently insisted that Gadhafi had been killed in crossfire, despite video of the wounded dictator being attacked and sodomized by rebels—told the al-Arabiya channel that an investigation has already been launched. "We have issued a code of ethics in handling of prisoners of war," he said, promising that Gadhafi's killer will be judged and given a fair trial.
But in Misrata, hometown of the fighters who captured Gadhafi, it is obvious that any investigation will be met with hostility, the Guardian finds."Why are they even asking this question?" the city's military chief said when told there was international concern about the manner of Gadhafi's death. "He was caught and he was killed. Would he have given us the same? Of course." The paper notes that the identity of the man who supposedly shot Gadhafi in the head is no secret in Misrata.
