Southwest Airlines: Profanity, Not Gay Kiss, Got Leisha Hailey and Girlfriend Booted

Southwest Airlines originally stated that L Word actress Leisha Hailey was booted from her flight Sunday due to an excessive PDA with her girlfriend, but now the airline says it was actually profanity that got the couple removed from the plane. In a statement released yesterday, SWA says that additional reports from employees and fellow passengers confirm that “profane language was being used loudly by two passengers. At least one family who was offended by the loud profanity moved to another area of the cabin.”

The statement still refers to the “excessive public display of affection,” but says that the couple was only removed from the aircraft because of “their aggressive reaction” and “the escalated conversation that developed,” Radar reports. In their own statement, Hailey and girlfriend Camila Grey take responsibility for “getting verbally upset” after a flight attendant approached them to inform them Southwest is a “family airline,” but they add that they were never “making out” or engaging in anything “excessive, inappropriate, or vulgar. … It was one, modest kiss.” The Daily Beast notes that Southwest is getting a reputation for questionable incidents like this—see Kevin Smith and Billie Joe Armstrong for starters, but there are more.
