Cop Caught in Sex Pics Fired

Just days after going viral, the New Mexico state trooper caught by a surveillance camera having sex on the hood of a Honda has been fired, reports the New Mexican. Police officials said the sex was not criminal nor done in exchange for anything in the trooper's official duties, but the department confirmed that Bert Lopez is no longer serving.

The eight-year veteran officer originally was placed on three-week administrative leave because of the photos, which apparently were taken some time in July or August. Police officials could not comment on why the decision was made to fire Lopez. "It is an embarrassing situation for the department," said a police spokesman, "but we have to remember the rights of the employee afford him due process so we won't be commenting further." Lopez has 30 days to appeal.
