Kennedy Inks Blockbuster Deal for Memoir

After a 6-day auction, Ted Kennedy's memoirs have sold for more than $8 million, the New York Times reports. Assuming the Senate Ethics Committee OKs the deal, Kennedy will discuss his lengthy career, infamous car crash, and failed presidential bid. He’s “walking, talking history,” gushed the book's publisher.

“I’ve been fortunate to have a front-row seat at many key events in our nation’s history,” said Kennedy, the first family member of his generation to pen an autobiography. But the book doesn’t signal the end of his Senate career. “He was just re-elected in 2006 and has no plan to retire,” an adviser said. (More book stories.)
