Bemused riot cops confronting unruly ravers in Los Angeles Wednesday night found that when the crowd was ordered to disperse, they planked. Dozens of people at the near-riot outside a rave movie premiere began lying face down in the street in front of cops, the Los Angeles Times reports. The ravers would get into formations of 15 or 20 people and lie down for a few seconds at a time, a witness says.
The disturbance has been blamed on a DJ's tweet announcing an impromptu block party outside the premiere. "Let’s see if the magic of social networking will work today," Kaskade tweeted to his 92,000 followers, thousands of whom turned up expecting a party. Police are considering filing charges against the DJ and other organizers. (More planking stories.)
