The maid accusing Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault has had her credibility take a drubbing lately, and the New York Post has the latest, and potentially most damning: She worked as a prostitute at the Sofitel Hotel, the paper claims in an exclusive that cites an anonymous defense source. "There is information . . . of her getting extraordinary tips, if you know what I mean. And it's not for bringing extra ... towels," says the source.

The source claims that her union placed her at the Sofitel: "There's a whole squad of people who saw her as an earner," adding that she had many personal expenses paid for by men unrelated to her. The union denies the claims, with a rep calling the allegations "absurd. We absolutely did not place her at the hotel and we do not track tips." The Post speculates that DA Cyrus Vance will be forced to drop charges, and the maid's lawyer blasted him as "too afraid to try this case" in the wake of a few recent high-profile losses.
