Casey Anthony’s defense rested its case today, with Casey herself declining to take the stand. Judge Belvin Perry asked Casey if she understood that the decision not to testify was hers alone, and if she’d had time to think it over, and she replied that she had. The defense then immediately rested. The day had lots of other interesting moments however, with other members of Anthony’s family and George Anthony’s alleged mistress, Krystal Holloway, taking the stand, the Orlando Sentinel reports.
The defense quizzed Casey’s family on the deaths of their pets, who were all buried in plastic bags secured with tape—much like Caylee. Holloway, meanwhile, testified that George Anthony had told her that Caylee’s death was “an accident that snowballed out of control.” The judge told the jury to use the testimony only in assessing George Anthony’s testimony, not Casey’s guilt.
