For fans of The Office, Michael Scott's leaving was a hard but enjoyable climax—and that's what she said, of course. And for fans of the "that's what she said" joke, two scientists at the University of Washington have created a computer program for identifying the popular double entendre, the Double Entendre via Noun Structure, or DEviaNT, reports Popular Science.
To create DEviaNT, the researchers analyzed 1.5 million smutty sentences and 57,000 non-dirty sentences, coming up with a list of nouns, verbs, and adjectives with "sexiness" possibilities. They then tested the results on 21,000 TWSS sentences, coming up with a 71.4% accuracy rate—not perfect, but 12% better than the next-best competitor. No doubt the scientists will keep working on it until they're satisfied ... and that's what, oh, never mind. You can download the complete academic paper here. (More The Office stories.)
