The FBI suspects a paroled bank robber, still at large, planted a pipe bomb at a mall near Columbine last week, Reuters reports. Earl Albert Moore “is considered armed and dangerous and has an extensive criminal background,” the FBI said. The 65-year-old had been a “person of interest” after appearing in the mall's security camera footage. He was paroled April 13 after a 2005 bank robbery in West Virginia, having served 7 years of an 18-year sentence.
A federal judge reduced his term after he gave prosecutors “substantial assistance in investigating or prosecuting another person.” Police have released photos of Moore, who goes by a number of aliases; he appears in surveillance footage with a mustache, baseball cap, jacket, and plastic bag. Meanwhile, police are investigating any likeness between the mall explosives and those used in the Columbine shooting in 1999. (More bank robber stories.)
