The Carolina Hurricanes needed luck and "funny goals" to clinch a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers last night and give Peter Laviolette his 200th win as a coach. Cory Stillman's winning goal came minutes after teammate Erik Cole left the game on a stretcher. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Columbus stretched its skid to four games with a 4-1 loss to Nashville.
  • Pittsburgh fell to last in the Atlantic Division and extended their losing streak as well in a close 3-2 game against New Jersey.
  • Evgeni Nabakov, perfect in the net with 25 saves in his 25th straight start, ensured San Jose's 5-0 victory over Phoenix.
