Mark Messier, the emotional leader of six Stanley Cup champions, was out front again yesterday—this time with an elite group entering the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. Joining Messier were Scott Stevens, Al MacInnis and Ron Francis—a total of 13 Stanley Cups between them. The understated Messier called the honor "pretty humbling."

Messier and Francis stand No. 2 and 4, respectively, in career points, while MacInnis was famous for his 100-mph slapshot, and Stevens was feared for bone-crushing hits. Messier, the captain of a champion in Edmonton, became the face of the New York Rangers through their Cup run in 1994, and even guaranteed a Game 7 victory over Stevens' Devils in the conference finals that year.
