Gwyneth Paltrow has caught the music bug—after her turn as a country star in Country Strong, the star and her crooning have been impossible to avoid, the Daily Beast reports. In fact, she performed musical numbers more than anyone else—musician or otherwise—this awards season. And don't expect it to stop: "I know that I won’t stop singing and playing guitar,” Paltrow said earlier this year.

However, fans and music experts have been less than welcoming to Paltrow's career shift. Music and voice experts find her lacking: “There’s nothing about her singing that made me think this is a talent,” says one MIT music professor. And in Nashville, her attempts at using Country Strong to position herself as a real country singer have been met with derision: "She’s kind of like Jessica Simpson, trying to make it in our industry," says the owner of an influential Nashville record store. "The people I hang out with don’t care for her as a singer." But Paltrow, no stranger to haters, isn't stopping there. Asked who she'd like to duet with, she said: “Jay Z. I think we’d be a good combination.” (More Country Strong stories.)
