On Saturday, John Henry was working at the Washington Shell station he owns when a “very polite guy” walked in to buy a cup of coffee—and rob the store. “Can you do me a favor?” the man asked as he pulled a gun out of his pocket. “Can you empty the till and put it right here? Empty the till. I'm robbing you, sir.” As Henry complied—and the entire exchange was captured on surveillance video—the man apologized for his actions and promised to return the money if he ever got back on his feet.
Henry tried to convince the robber to take $40 and leave, but the suspect turned him down, explaining, “I've got rent to pay, and bills, and the kids need to eat.” As he left, with about $300 from the cash register, the robber thanked Henry and apologized again, KING 5 TV reports. "God be with you, man," Henry said as the man, whom police are currently seeking, left. The robber’s reply: "Thank you very much, and with you, too."
