Miroslav Satan’s goal midway through the third turned out to be the game winner as the Islanders snapped the Rangers four-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist was unable to bail out the Blueshirts this time, as his team’s road record drops to 0-5-1. Rick DiPietro had 28 saves for the Islanders, reports the AP. Elsewhere in the NHL:

  • Ottawa beat Toronto 5-1. The win was a franchise record eight straight and gives the Senators the best record in NHL history through 14 games at 13-1-0.
  • Atlanta downed Washington 2-1 in overtime thanks to Todd White’s 100th career goal. The victory makes the Thrashers 6-3 under interim coach Don Waddell. Ilya Kovalchuk scored his league-leading 13th goal for Atlanta.
