Verizon's Cherry on Top: Unlimited iPhone Data Plans

The good news just keeps on coming for iPhone lovers who want to switch to Verizon: The network will offer unlimited data plans when it starts selling the iPhone, at least initially. AT&T stopped offering unlimited plans over the summer, and admitted it did not anticipate how much stress the iPhone would place on its network. Verizon, on the other hand, has been strengthening its network and feels confident it can handle the data loads, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The unlimited plans may not last forever: Verizon execs have said that the industry must begin using tiered pricing. But for now, the CTO says Verizon has invested in its 3G network as well as its new 4G network—and though he didn’t mention the iPhone specifically, he insisted, “All of this planning can support any successful device.” Should that be the case, AT&T may have a tough time convincing customers that it's managing its own network properly, notes the Journal. Sources have said Verizon will make its iPhone announcement tomorrow, and Apple will begin selling the Verizon iPhones Feb. 3.
