The 53-year-old mayor of Springfield, Illinois, is dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot, reports the State Journal-Register. Police found the body of Tim Davlin at home this morning after responding to a 911 call. Authorities have yet to confirm the cause of death. Davlin, mayor of the state capital since 2003, had some personal finance problems reportedly recently, notes the Chicago Tribune. He owed the IRS $90,000 in unpaid income taxes, and saw liens filed against his house. His death comes nearly 12 years to the day his father died, notes SJ-R. (More Springfield stories.)
