Jets Coach Really, Really Sorry for Tripping Miami Player

The Jets-Dolphins rivalry is getting to be more like the Jets-Sharks rivalry: New York's conditioning coach, Sal Alosi, is in some hot water after he tripped Miami cornerback Nolan Carroll on his way out of bounds yesterday. As in, stuck his knee out and caused Carroll to fall. Like a 3rd-grader. On videotape. Predictably, he's sorry (and likely facing suspension and a fine, if not league action):

"I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment," Alosi said in a statement. "My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for. I accept responsibility for my actions as well as any punishment that follows." Hilariously, ESPN got a little unnecessary reaction from Dolphin Channing Crowder: "They're cheaters. They talk junk. But we beat the hell out of them today. I wish they'd tripped me. I'd have broken that old man's leg." (More New York Jets stories.)
