Users Sue YouPorn for Spying on Them

It seems YouPorn’s been a very naughty website. Two California men have filed a class-action lawsuit, complaining that the homemade smut site has been spying on users’ surfing histories. When users surfed to YouPorn, a Javascript looked through their history to see which links have been marked as “purple,” the usual color of a clicked link, Forbes explains. (The code has apparently since been removed.)

The lawsuit argues that such snooping is against California’s consumer protection laws and “violates Plaintiffs’ privacy interests.” YouPorn isn’t the only site reading your history, either. Academic researchers have found 46 sites using the same or similar technology, including heavyweights like Wired, PerezHilton, the Huffington Post, Technocrati, and the Sun.
